Little Popsicle's life was cut way too short. He came to us after being found freezing outside in the cold. He was very sick and was never able to recover. He was sweet and extremely adorable; he will be missed a lot by our volunteers.

From Medicine Hat rescues. Koala Bear came to us in November 2009 from a case of hoarding.  She was one of the cats in the worst condition... a total rack of skin and bones, matted with feces to the skin and suffering from severe infections in her mouth, eyes and nose.  Upon examination it was discovered she was also anemic so her condition had to be monitored very closely.  With lot's of time, excellent Veterinary support and a tonne of love from our volunteers, she had made a full recovery; put on weight, her fuy began to grow in nice and soft and her infections were under control.  Sadly almost 2 years to the day of her rescue, Koala Bear passed away.  Her long difficult life had taken it's toll despite her excellent care, she had severe glaucoma in her eyes and kidney failure - her quality of life was no longer as it should be.  We made the very difficult decision to say goodbye to Koala Bear yet we will never forget her.  So gentle, so affectionate and incredibly strong...you will be missed Koala Bear - Rest in Peace Sweet Girl.

Nov. 18, 2009 - Beautiful Ava left us far too young.  Ava developed a fatal auto-immune illness very suddenly and it was with much tears we had to say goodbye this morning.  Ava will always be remembered and loved by her foster mom and the Happy Cat volunteers.  Ava was a very sweet and loving girl. She was quite shy but really came out of her shell at her foster home where she was given the one on one care she so very much needed, she became very cuddly and had quite the motor on her when she purred. Rest in Peace Ava, you're in a better place now and we will never forget you.

Date of Birth:

Scruffy came to us in 2008 as a senior cat who's owners were going to euthanize her because they got a new kitten that she apparently didn't get along with. At her first examination we found out that she had "early stage" kidney disease from bloodwork we had done.  In our care, she was a wonderful cat and tolerant of other animals - she was very loving and always ready for some treats and attention from the volunteers.  Scruffy sadly passed away on Dec 14, 2009 due to end stage kidney failure.  She lived over one year with special food and treatment for her kidney condition and did very very well.  We will miss her greatly and feel an emptiness when we don't see her on her favorite scratching post waiting for us to come and visit her.  Rest in peace Scruffy.

Sweet Jean-Luc was adopted January 13, 2009 and sadly passed away January 27, 2009.  In his short life he touched so many people and we're heart broken over his passing.  Jean-Luc died of an auto immune disease which was very unexpected and no testing is available for this.  It affects very few cats, mostly young cats under a year old.  There is no cure or treatment.  Jean Luc will be missed. Thank you Cam for giving him a loving home for such a short period of time, I know he was happy with you.  Thank you.

Sweet Snowball - she was Happy Cat's official first trapped cat in 2003.  Found in downtown Strathmore, Snowball had nobody looking for her and she was a skinny and sick, grumpy10yr old cat.  Over the years she remained to be a little cranky, allowing the volunteers to pet her only on her own terms.  She was diagnosed with a heart murmur the first day she seen the vet, over the years it progressed as well as heart disease and this past year she became too weak and we made the har decision to send her to the Rainbow Bridge.  Snowball will forever remain in our hearts and thank you Snowball for teaching us so much about cats!!
