Dellilah

Dellilah
Sex:
Female
Type:
DSH white and grey
Age Group:
Adult
Special Status:
Shy Cat
Date of Birth:
July, 2006

Dellilah is a very chubby, soft and gentle little girl who purrs as soon as you pet her. She has come a long way from when we rescued her as a feral kitten. She has always been very quiet and sweet. She has a little spot of black on the tip of her nose. Delilah has tried a new home but is far too shy and timid, at this time she is a permanent resident at the sanctuary.  Who knows, maybe down the road we can find her a trusting and understanding owner, but for now she is safe and happy with her feline friends.

Helmut

Helmut
Sex:
Male
Type:
DSH white with tabby
Age Group:
Adult
Special Status:
Shy Cat
Date of Birth:
May, 2006
Helmut is a cute little guy with neat markings. He was caught as a wild older kitten with his siblings and his mom from inside a shed. Helmut is still nervous around new people and will run from you when you approach him. He's one of those cats that will need alot of one on one in order to prepare him for adoption. We do see the potential in him to make a great housepet but because of his shy stature and of course a very quiet and safe home it is difficult to adopt him out. For now he is happy with his feline pals and our volunteers will continue to work with him and gain his trust, hopefully one day he'll come out of his shell and be ready for a new home.

Scoops

Scoops
Sex:
Female
Type:
DSH black and white tuxedo
Age Group:
Adult
Special Status:
Shy Cat
Date of Birth:
August, 2004

Scoops came to us as an 8 week old wild kitten.  She was with several siblings and we worked very hard with her to help tame her.  Her siblings all became very tame and have since been adopted, Scoops unfortunately never fully came around and has remained quite timid dispite much effort.  She is very good with her foster mom but is shy with new people.  We would like Scoops to be adopted into a quiet home, without children or dogs.  We just know she would love to have a safe, indoor home to live the rest of her days in. She loves other cats so ideally she should be adopted into a home with one or more cats already.

Wild Wilma

Wild Wilma
Sex:
Female
Type:
DSH brown tabby & white
Age Group:
Adult
Special Status:
Shy Cat
Date of Birth:
February, 2004
Wild Wanda was from a feral colony in Strathmore.  Our intention was to spay and release her as she had a shelter and had food and was being cared for by someone outside. Once at the vet, they discovered she had been shot in the side with a pellet gun which had then formed a very bad abscess in her side. She had surgery to remove the damaged tissue and needed to be on antibiotics for 2 weeks. At that point, we couldn't let her go. She stayed in a cage for 2 weeks because that was the only way we knew she would eat the pills, hidden in her food. And we could make sure she was eating well and using the litter. That was in late 2005. She is now living full time at the sanctuary and has a favorite volunteer who has almost totally tamed the Wild Wilma.  She loves to be held by only the one volunteer, scratched and snuggled and when the tinned foodcomes out, she is waiting patiently on her perch. Wilma does not trust anyone but her main caregiver that has been with her since we got her. So we feel it is not appropriate to adopt her out as she is comfortable and very bonded with the other cats and volunteer at the sanctuary. Wilma has a forever home with us and gets 24/7 access to a fully enclosed outdoor cat run with lot's of places to go and things to do. Life is not dull for this sweet girl at all.

Dolly

Dolly
Sex:
Male
Type:
DSH Buff and White
Age Group:
Adult
Special Status:
Shy Cat
Date of Birth:
January, 2004
We thought he was a female until surgery day, and he is now used to the name Dolly! Great with other cats, very very shy. Dolly is a semi-feral cat. He is just wild enough that he will not let you pet him but he has some comfort in people when it comes to being fed and looked after. Dolly is probably going to be with us forever although we will continue our best to tame and work with him and try to get him more comfortable with humans. If someone has experience working with wild cats and would like to give Dolly a second chance please contact us and maybe we can work together to help him progress a little faster. For now, he is living at the sanctuary with a wonderful group of cats, he is happy and very social with his feline friends.

Lovely

Lovely
Sex:
Female
Type:
DMH black & white
Age Group:
Adult
Special Status:
Shy Cat
Date of Birth:
May, 2006

Caught with her brother in 2006 , Lovely was living with her feral mom and brother in a wood pile. Gentle but very cautious of people.  Lovely is a tiny little girl with the softest satin coat ever.  She trusts only one volunteer enough to allow petting, but still has alot of fear in her and will always run away and hide.  She needs a lot of hands on work and with someone who has a tonne of patience.  Lovely gets along with all the cats and we will continue to work with her in hopes of someday being able to adopt her into a loving home.

Francis

Francis
Sex:
Female
Type:
DSH
Age Group:
Adult
Special Status:
Shy Cat
Date of Birth:
July, 2007

Francis is a semi-feral cat, she has not had much human contact for most of her life, including her adult life.  She is very very shy and avoids being touched if at all possible.  Our volunteers are working with her, but she is probably going to be best suited to remain a sanctuary cat unless we can find a home that is fully prepared and understanding that this cat will "probably" never be much of a lap cat or seek human affection. Of course there's exceptions to every rule, but it will take alot of time, love and patience with a semi-feral cat - possibly even years before they will fully trust you.   She would do best adopted into a quiet home without children or dogs but for now is living happily at our sanctuary.

Felicity

Felicity
Sex:
Female
Type:
SHD
Age Group:
Adult
Special Status:
Shy Cat
Date of Birth:
July, 2007

Felicity is a gentle at who is very shy. She is also very sweet but is always nervous around new people or loud noises. We would like to find Felicity a quiet home that will give her the time and space(possibly months) she needs to gain confidence and become the adoring cat we know she can be. We would prefer she go to a home without young children due to her nervousness. Felicity would do well adopted as a companion for another cat but for now is living happily at the sanctuary.

Chewy

Chewy
Sex:
Male
Type:
Short Haired Brown Tabby
Age Group:
Adult
Special Status:
Shy Cat
Date of Birth:
March, 2005
We have had Chewy for over 2 years now, he was a wild and aggressive cat when he first came to us, but after working hard with Chewy  these past few years he has almost overcome his shyness and fear of people. The cat who used to hide in the corner now will rub all over us and purr with content -especially when we give him a little canned food. He loves to be scratched on his back and will reach out to hold our hand if he wants more. Chewy still has the tendency to run and hide when he is startled with fast movement or loud noises, so he should not go into a home with children. We know with some more time and a very loving and caring owner, he will be as confident as a regular house cat. Chewy is bonded to several cats at the sanctuary...if interested in adopting Chewy, we are hoping he can go with one of his buddy's into a new home. Please email to inquire. For now Chewy is happily living at the sanctuary.

Snowball

Snowball
Sex:
Female
Type:
DMH White
Age Group:
Senior
Date of Birth:
January, 1993

Does not like cats. Tolerates dogs. Snowball is one of our senior resident cats, she truly deserves a quiet and loving home. Snowball was one of our very first rescues in December of 2003. Snowball has a beautiful coat which she keeps immaculately clean. She is a very quiet & graceful cat. The tips of her ears have been frozen off but we think she is still gorgeous. She doesn't take long to warm up to new people but does not like other cats or dogs. Snowball has been diagnosed with a heart murmur but she does very well this and shows no signs of distress or discomfort. She is looking for a quiet permanent home to live the rest of her days in. Happy Cat Sanctuary will provide support for Snowball's care if the right home can be found for her.
