Bamboo - Born approx. January 2007 - Domestic Short Hair, torti - female.  Prefers a quieter home, is gentle and loving when she gets to know you - will sit on your lap as you type away on the computer or quietly watch the birds outside.

Lily - Born April 2, 2009 (Bamboo's kitten) - Domestic Short Hair, orange mackeral tabby - female.  Is good with kids but her mom prefers to be in a quiet home.  Lily is a talker but very playful and is a lap cat once she gets to know you.  Lily is very bonded to her mom and you will understand why when you read their story below:

BAMBOO AND LILY:

Bamboo came into our care mid-Feb 2009 after she had been grazed by a vehicle on a rural road.  Her injuries were all superficial and she recovered within days.  By March we noticed her abdomen becoming larger around the time she was supposed to be spayed - after examination it was determined she was indeed pregnant - she was likely very early term pregnant when she was hit by the car.  By this stage, she was comfortable where she was in foster care and the vet felt it would be safe to allow her to carry to term.  On April 2, 2009 - Bamboo gave birth about 10-14 days prematurely, for reasons unknown.  5 of her kittens were delivered still born and one was alive but weak, tiny and had very little fur.  The vet gave her a 10% survival rate due to the underdevelopment at this stage...but Bamboo was the best mom.  She would wrap her whole body around her kitten to keep her warm and encourage her to nurse, rarely leaving the kitten's side.  2 weeks later the kitten was thriving and was about the size of a normal newborn kitten - but still not out of the risky stage.  Skip forward a few months and "Lily" is now a very healthy, beautiful 9 month old cat - she has a funny deformed tail that curls around and sticks up, this causes her no problems other than the tail being odd-looking. They are looking for a forever home either together or seperate.
